He was sent on what was meant to be a simple quarantine to stop the virus from spreading, but obviously that mission ended in failure. Long story short, James ended up like a lot of other people and lost pretty much everything he’d ever known. When all hell broke loose he decided to do the only thing he could, and that was to help people who couldn’t defend themselves, and that’s how he ended up in Mater. With his parents dead, Jay is searching for a new place to call home, in the chaotic world. He’s a very genuine young man, always willing to throw himself in danger’s face if it means he can help someone else. However, he doesn’t like to risk his life for what he would consider a lost cause. Some would say he’s a bit heartless because of this, but he was there when this all began and he watched as his friends were killed and had to put a bullet in his own mother’s head. He knows without a doubt what the walker’s are capable of and as such, he always thinks each move carefully through. As a former infantry officer he’s quite skilled with just about any gun you give him, which is why he gladly took the role of a ranger. .......................

I could see these two being friends. Maybe Samantha could be like an older sister always trying to tell him what to do, especially since he's always jumping at the chance to risk his life. it may always be for others, but he does like the adrenaline rush just a bit xD. Maybe she could try to get him to chill on that just a little. As far as being more goes, maybe it could be a one sided crush or something since he's already somewhat taken in this area.

I think given their ages and their jobs they'd get on quite alright, almost to the point of being best friends? james being the ranger and john being the deputy they'd probably interact a lot and while there is a ranger shortage john sometimes tags along, perhaps they could be partners?

I agree that these two would be friends. James is definitely the type that would like to have another guy around his own age to relate to. John going along on ranger missions would also be helpful considering all the others rangers on women so far, and like I said sometimes you just need to be around the guys ya know? James would also be willing to help train any of the newer deputies if they needed the help.

johnny would mostly need help with long range shooting, he's the up close and personal type with walkers currently and after malcolm's initiation training and all that he's cut for the job. it could never hurt to get a little better though. plus, everyone needs a bro. john grew up in a family and extended family where he was the only male in his generation, he even joined a frat in college, I think he may have a wish to not be surrounded by females ALL the time haha

i can see a bit of a hate thing going on here. she'd find him attractive. like, insanely attractive, but she wouldn't let that cloud the fact that he's kind of an asshole. naturally, she's a bitch, so it wouldn't really matter, either way. she doesn't like a lot of the rangers, just because she hates that false security of them being able to actually keep the community protected, and she isn't a big fan of authority figures as it is. she lets her attitude flow freely, too, so i can't see that helping them have a better relationship at all, haha.

she's going to be trying to get into the raiding, just because she's tired of doing nothing and rotting away in mater. so, if malcolm ever allows it, maybe james could be the one to take her on a test run, try and show her the ropes. get her back into shape. she's not much of a gun girl, generally likes to stick to blades or hand to hand shit, so she'll need a lot of training with a firearm. but killing walkers doesn't affect her at all, so there's gonna be no problems once they actually get out there.

soooo, as i'm sure you've been able to guess, gage also isn't much of authority figures. however. he does understand what needs to be done in order to protect the community, and he respects the fact that the individuals who're pitching in are helping, instead of just sitting on their asses. he isn't all that enthused about being told what to do, though, so if james ever starts barking out orders, he wont be a happy southern boy at all.

like max and james, i can see a bit of a hate thing going on. gage would probably press his buttons for the sake of doing so. i can't see there being much of anything beyond annoying or pissing each other off, though. not unless james either lost it and threw the first punch, or pissed gage off enough to cause him to send the first fist flying.

there isn't a lot i can think for these two. i'll pop back in and repost if i can think of something to add to the gage / james idea c:

I can see James being really distant and not trusting Max too much. He's the sort of person that judges a book by his cover, and that only changes once he actually gets know the person a little. With Max being the loner type, it seems like James would have nothing but negative ideas about her. This would probably lead to him being pretty rude to her if they crossed paths. He would also decline to help train her, if he didn't feel like she really wanted to learn and wouldn't be wasting his time. Once, or if, he ever got to know her though (those ranger outings would help), I could see him trying to help her fit into the community a little more, and actually being somewhat friendly towards her. Not sure how she'd take to that though.

James&&Gage
As I said, James is the type to judge a book by its cover so initially he'd see Gage, as nothing more than a red-neck and would probably avoid him. However, with Gage wanting to push his buttons, I don't see this relationship turning friendly at all. James would be able to keep his cool for the most part so their fighting would probably just be arguing back and forth when it came to certain subjects. The only way James would throw a punch is if Gage said something personal about his past (not sure how he'd manage to get that info) or about his blooming relationship with Devyn. Yeah that would probably send him over the edge.

One idea is that they're forced to work together. Could be just the two of them or a larger group even, but Gage being a mechanic (not sure how many there are in Mater) might need to be sent with a ranger(s) to fix something. Say the power goes out or they find a truck/rv some odd miles away that might be useful, or whatever but it needs repair or whatever lol. Its a rough idea, but I'm sure you get it. Being forced to work together could either make them hate each other more, or ease some of the tension even.

so maxxie here's gonna end up being friends with dev. kinda like, her bad influence, sorta. there was something about max teaching her how to kiss properly, too. so, y'know c; anyway. i like the idea of them not really seeing eye to eye. i think that, eventually, after him and dev end up getting on better, max and james could cool it down a bit, just for the sake of dev? i mean, there's gonna be loads of snark still there, but not nearly as much.

for the raids, i'm pretty sure that max would be the one who'd push his ass to help her. she doesn't feel right just sitting around, and getting some actual headshots on some actual zombies, instead of through a video game, would make her feel ten times better about soooo much. so, she'll definitely be trying to get james roped into it. then there's always the whole, her conning him into some hand to hand combat, too.

if you and dev's writer ever want drama for their relationship, i'm pretty sure max would be the perfect candidate. she's naturally a sexual person, and adrenaline really gets her going, if you know what i mean, so it wouldn't surprise me if some boundaries were pushed while he was training with her. not with firearms, but with hand to hand, that sorta thing. not only that, but sometimes arguing just brings out that kinda stuff. but she'll respect dev and james, if you guys aren't looking for anything down the alley. c:

gasp. that's a wonderful ideaaaa. i'm thinking that, depending on where they are in their relationship, it could either make them more pissy or relieved the tension, like you said. gage is civil when he wants to be, or when there's no point in not being so, but they'd come rare around a guy like james. but they both make the hard decisions that seem heartless, and they both hate doing things that aren't going to get them any progress. so, as much as gage wont like him, i can also see them hitting it off, eventually. it might take a near death experience, or something like that, to change their opinions of each other, but they're both really alike.

but yes, gage would definitely mention something about dev. and how she's a little too young for someone like james, and carry on like that. he picks up on a lot of things people don't think he would, so i'm pretty sure the shock of it coming out of a guy like gage would just make the outcome that much worse, lol.
