Cyd, Cyda, Dara, Cyda Lee any way you shake it she'll probably answer to it. But only if you know ASL (American Sign Language) because this girl here is deaf due to an accident that occurred a few years back while she was overseas with the Army. She's 29-years-old and a native of Jacksonville, Texas a place of big living and horse ranches (which is what she grew up on by the way.) She lost her mother as she entered high school to cancer and was left with three crazy brothers and a father who meant well but didn't quite know how to deal with girls. She did the rebellion schtick for a while before joining up with the Army straight outta high school--active duty did her some good it turns out, gave her the much needed discipline to carry on and honed her skills fixing trucks and the like.
After the accident she bucked up, learned sign language and picked up reading lips as a hobby so people couldn't talk about her without knowing what they were saying. She had been training dogs for military and rehabilitative purposes when she was greeted with an apocalypse. Dear ol' Dad was in Santa Fe at the time and Cyd and the boys had agreed on going to New Mexico to get him before getting the hell outta dodge. She got separated from her brothers the night the plague finally hit home and she's been alone with her two dogs ever since. She's made it through a couple of states to get here and during that time it's like a blast from Iraq with all the lawlessness and killing and a part of Cyd likes it...and that part scares her. She can be a downright bitch when the mood takes her but she's got a good heart that she's afraid to use and that has made her a loner for the most part. She just wants to find her dad and her brothers and find a safe place to stay until this shit blows over because living with a disability means relying on her dogs and a constant state of awareness and paranoia.

IAN//CHAHLE [/color] and[/color] CYDARA[/color][/font][/center] Honestly, I had no idea that there was another character who spoke ASL. Both of the twins can speak it, and I think it'd be really interesting having them all interact! I don't have anything plot-specific besides perhaps one or the other saving one or the other... but if you can come up with anything, I'm all ears!

Haha no fucking way! I think when these peeps cross paths in Mater or where ever they happen to meet Cydara would be psyched but not let on as much because now there are two people that would understand when she started using dirty words bahaha. I don't think Chahle would be too excited about the fact that Cyd has two dogs that are pretty much with her at all moments but I would be completely amendable to a thread where someone saves the other person's butt! :D I'm really excited now! |

cydara & Samantha.. they are both texas girls. they could be friends. sam tends to be more observant and write things down rather than talk. with out an actual vocalization things tend to not get messed up in the communication department. plus sam could always use a friend hearing or not.

I think these two would probably meet once they got into Mater, and Cydara is a little skittish of people for the most part but she ain't a bitch to you unless you're one first. I think it would be nice to have at least one female friend for Cyd but it would take a lot of time to get to that place. Cyd acts like a big tough bitch but she's really a softie at heart (mostly.) |

max and cyd ,
it's weird, but i think that after cyd gets to mater, that her and max would get along. the deaf thing would be a bit of a barrier, but max wouldn't grabbing a pad of paper and a pen to talk to her with. in fact, it'd be so much easier to max than actually speaking. maybe she could be a big sister figure to max, someone to just watch out for her a bit, considering she doesn't know the first thing about taking care of herself. in return, max would do stuff for her, too, like watch her back, and stand up for her if anyone ever said anything bad about cyd. not that i think anyone would, but still, haha. they could be each other's shoulders, and for max, cyd'd probably be the only person she'd trust above her average level.

I really like that idea, Cydara would secretly enjoy it as well. Max would be like a surrogate sibling for her which would be good for Cyd considering all her siblings are either dead or missing. She would definitely protect Max pretty fiercely and teach her how to survive--not to sound like a complete and total sap but it would definitely be a good healing experience, perhaps for both parties. |
